It is assessed by two written papers, each 1 hour 30 minutes and worth 50% of the GCSE. Paper 1 focuses on computational thinking and programming skills, and Paper 2 focuses on computing concepts.
AQA sets programming questions using a standard pseudo-code in the exam, and schools usually teach a language such as Python alongside it. Revising the logic and the standard pseudo-code matters more than any single language.
Break each concept into a short definition, an example and a reason it matters, then test yourself with quick recall questions. Topics like networking, data representation and cyber security reward spaced repetition, which the flashcards here are built for.
It helps but is not essential. Some topics use maths, such as binary and hexadecimal conversion and Boolean logic, but most marks come from understanding concepts and writing clear algorithms. Logical thinking matters more than advanced maths.
