Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about Aicademy. Can't find an answer? Start for free and explore the platform yourself.

Getting started

Create a free account with just your email address — no credit card required. Type a topic or upload a document and Aicademy generates a lesson, quiz, or flashcard deck. From there, you can build a full learning path without leaving the platform.

Aicademy works across academic subjects, university modules, professional qualifications, coding, languages, and most other topics you can clearly describe. It performs best when you're studying a defined subject rather than something highly speculative or rapidly changing.

Yes. Aicademy can be used for professional certifications and qualifications, especially when you upload official study guides or course materials. It structures them into focused lessons and practice quizzes based on your actual material rather than generic summaries.

Yes. You can use it for self-teaching too — learning a new skill, exploring a subject out of curiosity, or building expertise in a professional area. The workflow is the same; there's just no exam deadline.

Not yet. Aicademy is fully responsive and works in a mobile browser for reviewing lessons, flashcards, and quizzes. A dedicated app is on the roadmap.

How Aicademy compares

ChatGPT is a general assistant you chat with, and its Study Mode is a good way to be walked through a topic. Aicademy is a study system built around the same kind of AI: it saves your lessons, schedules spaced-repetition revision, tracks your progress, and gives you a tutor that already knows your lesson.

Yes. Both turn a topic or your uploaded material into AI study sets with a tutor. Aicademy adds a learn-once personalisation profile, spaced-repetition revision, and a focus on UK GCSE and A-level, at a lower monthly price.

It depends what you want. Anki and Knowt are strong for free flashcards, while Aicademy is the pick if you want AI to generate lessons, quizzes and flashcards for you rather than searching public sets.

Seneca and Save My Exams give you fixed courses, notes and past papers. Aicademy generates study material for your exact topic and includes an AI tutor at £4.99, versus Seneca's £14.99 AI tier. Plenty of students use them alongside each other.

Content & AI

Content is grounded in your topic or uploaded documents. It is a revision aid, not a primary source — we recommend cross-checking against your own notes for advanced or high-stakes topics. Uploading your own material helps improve relevance because the AI works from what you provide rather than general knowledge alone.

Yes. PDFs, Word documents (.docx), and plain text files are supported. Aicademy extracts the content and grounds your lessons and quizzes in your actual material.

Yes. Lessons, quizzes, and flashcard decks can all be edited after generation. The AI gives you a strong starting point; you stay in control of the final material.

The AI tutor is a conversational assistant available inside each lesson. Ask it to explain something differently, go deeper on a concept, or give you an example. It has context about the lesson you're studying, so responses are specific rather than generic. Free users get 10 messages per day; Pro removes the daily tutor message limit.

A learning path is a structured sequence of topics that takes you from your starting point to your goal. Generate one automatically by describing what you want to learn, or build one manually. Each step links to lessons, quizzes, and flashcards. Paths work well for longer subjects where order and progression matter.

Cards are scheduled based on how confidently you answer them. Cards you struggle with come back sooner; cards you know well appear less often. This focuses review time on the material that needs it most.

You can configure a personalisation profile: preferred explanation style, current knowledge level, and learning goal. This profile shapes how the AI writes lessons, responses, and generated content for you. It's free on every plan.

You can publish learning paths to the Explore page, where other users can discover and follow them. Lessons, quizzes, flashcards, and notes remain private unless you explicitly share them.

Quizzes mix five question types: multiple choice, multiple-select, true/false, fill-in-the-blank, and short answer. Each is marked instantly, with an explanation and, where a question has a common trap, a note on the mix-up.

No. Quizzes are marked by a fixed, automatic system rather than an AI, so your answers aren't sent off to be graded. Marking is instant and consistent, and forgiving of small typos and of British or American spelling.

Plans & billing

You get 20 AI creations per month — across lessons, quizzes, flashcard decks, learning paths, and document uploads — plus 10 AI tutor messages per day. That's enough to try the full workflow and build a focused study plan across your subjects.

Pro removes the monthly creation limit and the daily tutor message limit. It also includes AI-generated revision notes, PDF lesson exports, and progress tracking and quiz score analytics. Available monthly at £4.99 or annually at £39.99 (£3.33/month).

No. Free accounts require only an email address. You can upgrade to Pro at any time from Settings → Plan inside your dashboard.

Go to Settings → Plan inside your dashboard, or visit the Pricing page. Choose monthly or annual billing and pay securely via Stripe. Pro features activate immediately.

Yes. Cancel from Settings → Plan with no penalty. You keep full Pro access until the end of your current billing period, then revert to the free plan.

Everything is preserved — your lessons, quizzes, flashcards, notes, and paths stay in your account. You lose access to Pro-only features until you re-subscribe, but nothing is deleted.

Not currently. The free plan is intentionally generous for students. If you represent an institution or study group interested in a team plan, get in touch via the links in the footer.

Privacy & data

Everything is private by default. Your lessons, quizzes, flashcards, and notes are visible only to you — the only exception is learning paths you explicitly publish to the Explore page.

No. Aicademy uses Azure OpenAI. Under Microsoft's data handling terms for the API, your inputs and outputs are not used to train, retrain, or improve foundation models.

Your data is stored on cloud-hosted databases and handled using industry-standard security practices. Passwords are never stored in plain text. You can also sign in with Google to avoid a password entirely.

Go to Settings → Account and request deletion. We'll delete your account and associated study content. If you have an active Pro subscription, cancel it first to avoid further charges.
