Divide the energy transferred (or work done) by the time taken: P = E/t or P = W/t. For 30 000 J transferred in 20 s, P = 30 000 ÷ 20 = 1500 W. Both equations must be recalled.
Energy, in joules, is the total amount transferred. Power, in watts, is how fast that energy is transferred. A powerful device transfers the same energy in less time than a less powerful one.
